I traded some one a baby ball python for it- Only problem is I dont know how often to feed it? I know they have been feeding it mice and mealworms before, but she is almost a year old and still very small. I think she is underfed- How often should I be giving her food?

  1. every day, to every other day.

you are aware the tempermant, and size on a nile, and what they can do if they manage to get a hold of you, right..?

  2. do the right thing for you and the animal and find an animal shelter to take it in(not a pet shop! they will sell it to someone else who doesn't know what there getting into). a shelter will find a proper home for the animal.  you are in no way ready for this type of animal. please do the right thing.

  3. Congratulations! You just got one of the most aggressive lizards in the world! I know, I have a 5 1/2 footer. You do know they have been documented to eat human flesh, right? It will eat every day or two if it is a baby. Rodents, crickets, hard boiled eggs, ground turkey, feeder roaches, chunks of meat, chicks, fish, etc. They are usually three to four feet long at a year of age. Nile monitors are the fourth largest lizard in the world, capable of lengths of 7 feet. Make sure it has a large swimming area. These are a semiaquatic lizard and a little water bowl won't cut it. All in all, they aren't a difficult lizard to care for, but they need alot of room. And the chances of you having a tame adult Nile monitor are slim to none.

  4. If this is your first monitor i highly recommend you trade it again. It will get up to 7 feet long and will be about 4 feet in the first year. You will need a minimum of a 10 foot long and 5 foot wide cage.Feed it everyday or every other would be good

  5. everyother day is good,  you might want to try hard boiled eggs as well.  they are a very good source of vitamins and protein
