I just got a camera with rechargable batteries. Do I need to charge the batteries fully before use?

You don't have to but I'd recommend it.  Why go out with batteries that have some unknown charge in them.  They might only last minutes.  I'd charge them so I knew about how long they'd last.

General rule of rechargeable batteries to prolong their life:

Discharge batteries fully before recharging

Recharge fully, then disconnect the power adapter

This occurs w/ old NiCads frequently, and even lithium-batteries ("Digital Memory").
