I just got a carecredit card and have a question?

I want to use it at my dentist tomorrow, he accepts it, do I just use it like a normal credit card or do I need to bring anything else with me. I remember when I activated my account there was a page to print off to bring with you but my computer crashed before I could print it and I can't go back to it. Do I need that piece of paper?

  1. Your dentist's office will probably be able to help you out. Usually the receptionists are trained to sell care credit. They want to get paid so they will more than likely be able to help you work through any logistical problems you might have. One suggestion though, arrive a little early and mention your concern before going in for the procedure. This way they will have time if there is anything for you to fill out. (plus you might get in early if they are not overly booked. This is a little secret that is useful at most doctors offices.)

  2. I would call and discuss your carecredit before hand, or arrive early to talk to billing about it.  Usually the provider has their own terms for the credit - some will give you up to 18 months to pay it back without interest, some will give you a much shorter period.  If you don't pay the balance by the end of the term given you, interest will be added and charged from the moment you used the card - meaning you will pay FULL interest.  So you want to definitely know what the terms for your provider are!  My dentist tries to give the best terms possible.

  3. no just the card. the dentist doesn't care about your terms or if you are getting screwed or not, he just wants his money. and a credit card will do just fine.

You may want to make an effort to get a copy of that page for yourself, so YOU will know if you are getting screwed however.

Your dentist trip may cost vastly more than you expect if you don't know what your loan terms are.

  4. You shouldn't need it to use at the dentist office.  However you may want it for your own reference.  It probably gives you your details of the account (rates, late fees, etc).  So I would call the customer service number and ask them if you need to present it to use the card and ask them if they could email you that page or mail it to you so you have it for your files.  Hope this helps.
