I just got a chinese yoyo, and i need some help!?

okay so it came with two sticks, a string, and the yoyo, so the instructions say to wind the string around the stick and fasten with two half hitches around the stick. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? and yeah, so please help if you know the answer to this!
