I just got a handycam sony,,,why????wont let me record in the miniDVD it keeps recording in the internalmemor?

You are probably using a blank DVD-R.

DVD-Rs need to be Initialized (it is simliar to formatting) before you can record on them.  When you are completely finished recording on the DVD-R, you Finalize it, and it is a permanent DVD forever.  Look in your Record menu on the camcorder for these two commands.
