Question:

I just got a kitten 4 weeks ago and now it has coccidia. My other cats do not, where did she get it??

JC I got my kitten from a respectable breeder could it really have come from there. My other cats are kittens as well and have not had them very long as well.

It's pretty contagious, so she brought it home with her from wherever she was.  It's a bacteria that lives in the ground (and of course then the litter box) and it's very common among strays who are outdoors.  If yours have been sharing the litter box with her, they have been exposed to it too.  But often a very healthy, unstressed cat will just pass it with no symptoms, and that's the end of it.  Once she's done with her treatment, and during her treatment, be sure to dump the litter boxes she's using frequently, and then bleach them to prevent the spread to your other cats.
