  1. Because all motocross tracks are different, there is no set rules to which gears work best on a track.  You can only learn what gears serve you best in different situations by riding and practicing.  The only advice I can give you besides that is always keep your bike within the powerband (the rpm range where your bike makes the most horsepower) by changing gears accordingly. When riding in sand or other soft surfaces, keep your bike running at high rpms, and when riding on hardpack, shortshift your bike and keep it right inside the powerband.  There is only one constant when using gears on a motocross track, and that is to start in second gear when you jump off the gate at the start of a race.  But before you even think about racing, get used to handling the characteristics of your bike by riding at local tracks during public practice days.  Good Luck.

  2. this question is almost impossible to answer but as a rough guide you always start in second go through the gears as needed then as you get to the corner an average rider will go into second in a tight corner or third in a slightly faster corner .

in wet conditions you should ride a gear higher

  3. This really depends upon the conditions of the track.  Whether it is dry or wet, if it is up hill or down.

Perhaps you should get some lessons to learn.
