Do you suppose it will get better in the future? I know it's a new product and they are probably working out all the glitches. I just got my local number today (for the last few days I have had a Texas number and I live in OKC).

Also will I always have to dial the area code, even for local numbers?

  1. Send it back mine never did even download

  2. I agree with JOE.

I have MJ also ..sometimes do have a problem and i unplug for 20 minutes then put onto different USB port. Change Phone to used. Now i used Uniden 5.8 so far so good.. uniden it has all of it but never used the digital answering machine, clock display .

Uniden and MJ they work good so far for me.

First time i had it i can dial directly without area code. , But after two weeks i had it ,it says i have to dial area code in order to connect the calls. It doesn't bother me .connection is clear.. our Computer has a LAN.

    It work good.

  3. well in nyc you need to use 10 digit dialing with landline's as well, since we are served locally by so many area codes, you get used to dialing the area code with the number after a while, its not a big deal...

as for the sound quality, i never have had a problem with mine...

the resources in the PC that is running MJ can cause problems (I have an old P4 on my LAN just to run the MJ software to prevent this) it is best to disable as much software running in the back ground as possible, that is not needed..

your LAN speed will affect the quality of the connection, wifi may not be up to the task. (all of my LAN is wired with CAT5, so I do not need to worry about speed restraints on my LAN)

your internet connection speed, and how much bandwidth is available to you at the time the call is connected will affect sound quality. DSL may not be fast enough, if you are using any other applications that require high bandwidth (I use cable modem's boost 30/5, my average LAN usage is 1 or 2 PCs streaming video from internet, 1 PC playing WOW, 1 xbox connected to XBL server, and the dedicated MJ PC, I never have sound quality troubles....

  4. its gonna get better....but I hate to tell ya....with the MJ it depends on your Internet connection...I have it for a year now...and worked out the bugs...and yes, with VoIP you have to dial the area-code.....get yourself a phone with speed dial...

I don't know what you're all done so far, but try a different USB port......change the phones, use a cordless....etc...!

if you use the Yahoo! Music Jukebox, it will not work!

also try ti set up a different user account just for the MJ.....and dont use the admin prev account...there are alot of little tricks...
