  1. From someone who had one male piggy and got another one, definetely yes! My guineas or so much happier with each others company. However, I house mine in seperate cages beside each other and let them out to play together sometimes. Your guinea pig will communicate a lot more and show a lot more different behaviors. The down side is that you will have to deal with them fighting for dominance. My guinea pigs, still do this when I let them out. They try to rub their butts on each other and release bad smells. They also mount each other. I was pretty concerned when this first occurred and researched online that it is part of their behavior to establish dominance. The dominance behavior has lessened, but still occurs. I feel my guinea pig is sooo much happier with a friend though.

  2. as long as they r introduced at a young age they r fine but i have a male guinea pig and he lives on his own cuz he does fight he has chunks out of his ears from fighting so hes by himself and loves it because he gets so much attention well anyway its up to u if u dont think they will fight then get another one.

  3. Not all guinea pigs fight, it depends on their personality. If he is lonely, then you should get another male guinea pig.

  4. You can but you would have to introduce them the right way so that they don't fight. first you should clean out the whole cage and spay it with safe cleaner to disinfect the cage and so that they can't smell the scent of the old guinea pig.  Then have one person hold one guinea pig and another person hold the the other guinea pig and let their only noses touch so that they can sniff each other. If they don't chatter their teeth then you can try putting them in floor time together but be constantly watching them (put them in a new area that nether one has every been in before and do not use the old guinea pigs tunnels and other stuff that already have his scent on them or else he will be mad at the new one because its his stuff and his teritory that the new one is using.  When they are done put them back in the cage but block off both sides and put each one on one side of the cage so that they can see each other and smell each other but they can't touch each other or fight.  Also when if you have a adult male guinea pig then it is most likely that he will get along better with a baby male than a male his age, also he might get along well with a newtured female. (you might want to get a biger cage to house two guinea pigs)

  5. I had 2 female guinea pigs and they didn't really fight.I dont know how the males would get along, but my females did. I could tell which one  was the top piggy though. they only had one hut in their cage and they shared it, and they shared their food too. Basically they never really fought, they got along great!! If i were you i would get another one because your piggy right now probably needs a friend and then if you are gone somewhere and you cantsee your guinea he won't be as lonely!

  6. neuter your current guinea pig and get a female partner. introduce them in a bathtub until they groom eachother, which can take days or months depending on the guinea pig. take your guinea pig to a shelter and have him pick a friend if you want. when they groom eachother they are ready to live together but supervise them in the cage together. always end your intros on a positive note.

  7. A second male would be great!  Contrary to popular belief, when not kept around females, males will bond closely with each other.  Guinea pigs are extremely social animals and no matter how much time you spend with them, they need another of their own species.  A lone guinea pig often lives for a much shorter time than they should-about four years instead of the 8-10 that is the average life expectancy.  I'd recommend going to the local shelter or a rescue to get the second one-they're usually far healthier than any that you'll find in the pet store and there are a lot that are abandoned and need homes just because someone got bored with them.

Just make sure you have a large enough cage-they will need at least a bottom floor that is at least 2x4 feet, *not* including any extra levels as they need the large space to run around.  While this may seem to be very expensive, C&C cages are cheaper than even the smallest pet store cage and are far better over all in both looks and practicality.  They are even cheaper when you make them yourself from easy to find materials.

  8. all rodents should be kept as pairs and they will fight a little at first but only to decide who the alpha pig is

  9. Try to spend more time with your guinea pig or get him a female guinea pig.

  10. Hi,as long as the male guinea pig is younger or same age yes get another one,as they prefer to be in pairs or groups. Its very unlikely they will fight if they are what i have said above. Just make sure the cage is big enough for 2 piggies. It should be at least 3ft by 3ft for two, plus they should be able to go out in a run. Hope this helps.
