I just got a new african rat!

Question

i just got a new african rat. his name is jitters. how am i supposed to make him not bite me or run away from me? my sisters mouse is perfectly trained. please help me!

GET ANOTHER! they need to be in pairs or else this will get worse! take him out in an area and sit right in the middle of the section and let him sniff you all up dont move though any little noise or movement can scare him! about getting two,...read this! :http://www.rmca.org/Resources/apair.txt

The rodents commonly called African soft-furred rats are actually a type of mouse. They prefer to be in colonies and they can take much longer to tame than most rodents. They aren't technically legal in a lot of areas, but pet stores will sell them anyway to make a buck.

Mabey your sister could show you a few tricks, I had a pet rat a few years ago, it helped not to handle it to much at first ... just let it get used to its new cage for a few days, coax it with food and when you pat/handle it dont force it to stay in your hands... eventually it will love you too ... hope this has been helpfull , rain :)
