  1. Well in 3 months, that won't happen anymore.  My black lab is 120 pounds.

Jack Russies are very territorial, it is trying to be the "master of the house" Trust me, it won't last.

  2. A 6 week old should never have left it's mom yet, but you'll probably hear that from a lot of folks.  However, since you already have him . . .

The Jack Russell is trying to show the puppy that he is the dominant one - that he is in control.

Unless there is a danger of injury to either dog, let the 2 dogs work it out.  Keep a close eye on them, however, since the pup is so young.

  3. *gah*  Why'd you bring a 6 week puppy home?  Pups should stay with their mothers still they're at least 8 weeks.

Keep your JRT away from the pup till it gets a little older.

  4. Don't worry...just stay calm when you're around the dogs otherwise you're creating an excited energy.  We bought a Parsons Jack Russell Terrier, had her for 3 days and she started sitting on our Cavalier, following him and nipping him when he went out of doors before her.  It's a dominance thing.   With your dog, a new dog has come into the home and he is worried the new dog is going to take over.  You have to show calm assertive energy and become pack leader, so he doesn't feel that he is responsible.  Check out cesar milan's website (the dog whisperer) there are some good tips and examples on there.

  5. OMG keep the pup away from the jack russell. Your jack russell is showing dominance and is trying to killl the pup. Dont put them together til the pup cant fend for itself.

  6. yes you should of not bring it home it should still be with it's mom.  your  jack russell. is thinking the lad is going to tack over it is just showing it who is boss it was stop in about a week or so
