I just got a new canon hv10, what firewall cable do i need to put footy on my lap top?

I had a panosonic 3ccd minidv ad my firewall cable worked fine with abode premium. My new hv10 dose not work at all as far as putting footage on my laptop.

  1. OK, to help with your searches, it's firewire not firewall, and it's Adobe Premiere not abode premium.  From what I've read it's got nothing to do with the firewire cable - Premiere seems to have some problems with HDV capture.  Have a look at the link for details.


  2. what version of Adobe PREMIERE do you have? Is it Elements? Is it PRO?

    Laptops generally have 5400rpm drives, these will not handle fluid HDV or DV capture & playback, also I doubt that your laptops graphics card will be capable of real time MPEG2 HD encoding and re-encoding....

  3. What type of firewire 400/IEEE1394a port does your computer have? If you don't have one, install one. Once you know what port is on the computer, you can get the firewire cable.

    The DV port on the camcorder is ALWAYS 4-pin... and the firewire port on your computer can be 4-pin or 6-pin. The most common would be 6-pin.
