I just got a parakeet today...?

And I love it. But it is scared to death of me.

It hasn't moved from the spot it has been in for the past couple of hours. I am worried that it wont eat or drink or anything. It doesn't seem happy. I am hoping that this is normal for a bird that is in a new place. I have a little sheet on the back of the cage that looked like it made it a little happier.

Any advice is appreciated. I want it to feel at home.

When you just bring it home it will be scared for some time. Make sure that it has fresh water and food in the cage. It will eat when it will get used to the new place. Also put some bird toys inside the cage, parakeets like mirrors and colorful things.
