  1. It's better to pick one really good puppy food and stay with it.Sometimes mixing or changing the food will upset their stomach. Feed the puppy food for a year then get a good adult food to mix in with it to wean her off the puppy food. Look at the first three ingredients and that will give you a good idea if it's a meat based food or cereal.I would advise to feed a very good food and although it cost more in at the start the dogs eat less and that makes up for it. Stay away from food with corn, soy and other fillers. If she's going to be 50 plus pounds or larger when grown look for a large breed puppy food.

  2. well i feed my dog beneful and kibbles and bits mixed and he is fine. I dont think it would be a problem.

  3. it's ok to mix dry and wet foods, but there is really no reason to mix two dry foods

  4. no its really bad.

  5. Puppies have very gentle systems,m Don't switch it around. Keep it on one good reliable brand and don't flip flop. Either with its feeding or its training. Be consistent.

PS: Purina is an awfully poor brand. It's advertised a lot but it's not very good. So is Beneful!  Let me share something with you:

This is a little lengthy, but it is very thought-provoking and a "must-read" if you're concerned about your puppy.

  6. Use one for treats and the other for her food. Do mix it up a bit but be careful. Sometimes mixing it up can create a hazardous combination.

  7. If you mix her food and she has a bad reaction, how are you going know which food caused it?

  8. The responsible breeder who would not have placed her with you until she was 9 - 12 weeks old should have given you the quality diet she was already being fed so that if you and the breeder decided it was okay to change her to another quality diet, it wouldn't upset her GI tract and lead to diarrhea, vomiting, dehydration and death.   If you responsibly adopted her from a shelter or legitimate rescue, they too would have assisted you and will be an invaluable resource, like the responsible breeder would have too, for all you questions and concerns for the proper and responsible care of the pup.

  9. It is best to feed the pup whatever she was being fed before you got her. If you want to switch her food ( not a fan of any food bought in the grocery store...), do so gradually adding more of the new food and less of the old until she is eating only the new food.

A good high quality food should be appropriate for the size of your dog. There are puppy foods for small and large breeds, as they develop at different rates and have different nutritional needs. I really like Innova and Taste of the Wild foods. Both are available at larger pet stores.

  10. mix it up
