I just got a quaker parrot a little bit ago she is about 4 months old ?

yeterday i found her eye is very swollen and has a liquid coming out does anybody no anything>?????????????help!!!!!!! she is acting perfectly fine

  1. you should take your bird to the vets asap. Even if she is acting fine- birds will often not display any signs that they are sick because they are a prey species and signs of weakness in the wild get them killed. If she has fluid coming out of her eye that is not a good thing- she could have an infection which may kill her, or she may loose the sight in her eye. its not worth the risk.


  2. The condition you speak of is called conjunctivitis. Unfortunately is is a symptom of many kinds of illnesses. Some are mild, but some can be deadly.

    I advise that you take your Quaker to an Avian vet as soon as possible. He can do tests to determine what is wrong.

    I have a Cockateil that has recurring conjunctivitis. It is not serious, and I treat it by giving him antibiotics which always clears it up.  Your bird, however may be in much more serious trouble.

    Please take your bird to an Avian Vet.
