  1. The "not to long ago" is the key. Turtles in new tanks often don't eat for weeks. Tempt him with a small live earthworm but don't frighten him with it, That may start him eating. Then you can add live fishes (not goldfish) or soft-bodied insects to his diet. When you can't get live food, cut strips of liver and dust them with bone meal. The pellets won't hurt him either.

  2. Uhm....good sir...

Turtles do not make good pets, especially starter pets.

If I were you, I would seriously consider releasing him back into the wild.

  3. i use to have one of those myself, i didnt feed it pellets, i bought a dozen goldfish a week and it ate all of them in one day

  4. make sure that you're feeding it in the water...i have a red-eared slider and he only eats in the water. If this doesn't work, try taking it out and putting food in front of it's mouth, hopefully it will eventually take it. It might be stressed so give it some time.

  5. Are you feeding fish? You need to feed them feeder guppies, goldfish or minnows for protein and calcium daily drop 20 or so in the tanks and watch them disappear in a few days!

This way when they swim for their dinner they get exercise also!

TOSS in a bird cuttle bone in the water for calciumIts pure calcium and they need that for shell growth. it will dissolve real slow and if they eat it that’s fine!!

They sleep at the bottom of rivers, streams. lakes or ponds or your tank to avoid predators like coyotes, foxes, owls, hawks, possums, raccoons and even some wide mouth bass.

and leafy greens? They need leafy greens Romaine, Butter lettuce. (Iceberg and cabbage are bad for them, any other leafy greens will do) for vitamin A that they need at least 3 to 4 times a week.

You probably already know that they get sick easily, shell rot, respiratory sickness, lopsided swimming, coughing, blowing bubbles from their nose, Swollen cloudy eyes means lacking in Vitamin A. Which we all need for good eyes. Google ‘vegetables with Vitamin A.
