Question:

I just got a root canal...

I just got a root canal today. I think they put

too much of the temperary filling in? The tooth

on that side feels bigger then the one on the

other side. It kind of hurts, but I don't think it

hurts from the filling. It just feels really weird.

Will it eventually wear down or something? Thanks!

  1. You need to check with your dentist. If the temporary filling material is too high that could cause you increasing discomfort. However, that will depend on what material they used. The temporary materials often used with root canals are actually very soft and will easily wear down to the right height in a matter of a day or two. But, other types don't wear down on their own. So you need to put in a quick call to the office and ask for their recommendation.

As for the tooth being somewhat sore, that's not surprising. The teeth around it, the gum tissues and the area where you got the injection are all likely to be a little tender so being a little achey isn't abnormal. But it should settle down within a day or so.

    Good luck!
