I just got a slap on the hand for insulting a member tell me if I was wrong?

Question

A guy asked what is what like to be high because he wanted to do drugs but his spelling was not very good.I told him he shouldnt do drugs because he would kill more brain cells and he obviously needed them.Yahoo sent me an email saying I insulted him.What do you guys think?

Yes, it was insulting, but that doesn't mean he didn't deserve it.  I understand that it gets frustrating to see so much bad spelling all over the place.  Most of the time it's not people with dyslexia who are bad spellers on here (or anyplace on the internet).  It's often just people who need to spend more time reading and less time on the internet (or doing drugs).

That's totally insulting. You insulted his intelligence, directly taking a stab at it by saying that he obviously needed it by the way he spelled. He could have dyslexia or something that he can't prevent. I understand why you said it clearly, but there wasn't really any need to take the stab at the guy. If he wants to try drugs, he may as well, he probably wouldn't like them very much anyway, there's always a first time for everything.

I'm going to disagree with the group on this one. Insulting? Perhaps, Arrogant? Definitely but that's probably your personality. It's no crime to be a bit brash sometimes.....well, maybe to the P.C. Police.

I got one of those e-mails telling me I had had one of my answers "reported", I had only written an answer telling the person that I had reported his question for making a terrorist threat! Which he did, he said he was from Iran and that his country was on the brink of nuking all of us. I think Yahoo is cracking down on it's answers, but some of us innocent people are being caught in the middle.

It was an insult. But at the same time you gave him good advice.But if you just got an email don't worry about it.
