I just got a tattoo thats on my hip and its turing red and swollen.?

Help me please I'm worried that it's my body rejecting the red ink. I've been putting triple anitbiotic ointment on it Ive had the tattoo for a day now. Please help.

stop putting one the ointment... buy glycerin soap... 100% neutral... and wash mornig and before u go to sleep... and put vaseline on it during the day at all times...

make sure your washing it properly 2-4 times a day with warm(not hot) water. don't use bar or glycerin soap thought.. its full of bacteria & might irritate your new tattoo! make sure your not using too much ointment too b/c that can clog the pores. what ointment do you use? it could be possible that your skin is having a bad reaction to it. try A&D ointment. you can purchase it in any cvs, wall-greens, target or grocery store. it's in the diaper isle. if none of that works you might want to contact your tattoo artist. hope i helped you! :)

Ok, so first off, the triple antibiotic ointment is not bad for your tattoo, but its not good. It clogs your pores easily. Buy a regular bottle of Jergens or something, you can get sensitive skin stuff if you want. Other than that, all you want to do is wash it at least 3 times a day, I suggest once when you take a shower, once around lunch time, once before you go to bed. Wash it more if you can. Use luke warm water and antibacterial soap, and always lotion afterwards. The type of soap does not matter. Other than that, give the tattoo as much air as possible, so if you can afford to make sure its not covered up, thats best. Don't let to much exposure to water.

Your body isn't necessarily rejecting the red ink, the color doesn't have anything to do with it. It might possibly be the brand or type of ink itself, but even that therein isn't likely. Just keep washing it and putting lotion on it for the next couple days, and if it's still extremely swollen, go back to your tattooist and ask what you can do.
