Would i pay for Custom & VAT when it arrives in the UK.

  2. $200 is over the theshold at which they start to charge taxes, so yes, you probably will have to pay duty & VAT.   Occasionally a package over the limit will slip through uncharged though.

    Customs & Excise seem to bear an uncanny resemblence to d**k Turpin, so unfortunately the price they use to calculate the duty is the declared value of the item, PLUS the cost of the postage!   As if that isn't enough, the VAT is then charged not on the original declared price (including postage), but on the total AFTER duty has been added.  So you are paying VAT on the duty as well.   Then there will be a Post Office handling fee added to that, and you generally need to pay upon delivery.  

    If the package is being sent by FedEx or a similar independent carrier, you will most likely just sign for it upon delivery and they'll send you an invoice for the duty & VAT later.

    Check all the fees carefully:  It's bad enough the way the tax is calculated, but sometimes the clerks do not properly convert from dollars to pounds before applying the taxes and can overcharge.
