He identified himself as special agent davis and said I had a lawsuit pending against me...rattled off a bunch of c**p about some credit card I had 4 years ago and told me I had to pay. He said he worked for some attorneys at Litigation Consultants and then transfered me to a place call Morestar...has anyone dealt with these people before? It all seemed a bit weird to me

  1. Standard   process  for  delinquent  credit  accounts ,

    Especially  4  years .

Nowhere   did  you  indicate  the  debt  was  not  yours .

You  may  want  to  secure  a  2nd  job   and  get  this  cleared  up  before  it  gets  really   nasty .

(  subsequent   calls  may  be  far  more  harsh  than  " weird " )

  2. Google them.  They appear to be bottom feeder debt collectors.

  3. Attorneys hired by any creditor can get real nasty, that's their job to collect on what someone doesn't want to pay off. Although I have never heard of this company I am not surprised. I would run your credit report since you didn't say the debt was not yours and see what's in your credit report, if you do show a delinquent account with the credit card company I would make arraignments to clear it to avoid further legal issues which could include getting a judgment against you and garnishing your wages.

  4. Sounds like it could be a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Act.  You can contact the Federal Trade Commission or your state's Attorney General office. Debt collectors can't threaten you.

  5. credit card companies cannot sue you for owing a bill, and neither can any other telemarketer.

  6. Just run your free credit report through annualcreditreport.com or call them toll free # 1-877-322-8228 for all 3 free reports. If there is something you're not aware of, dispute it immediately. If the calls continue, call your phone co and tell them to put a tracer on the calls. Once it is recorded, then the phone co will sue them
