School was over so my friends and I decided to go to Jack and The Box. So we J-Walk there (since no cars were present) we ran and a police officer who was eating there saw us. And we all got a ticket.

  1. you violated the rules-----here come the judge---here come the judge-----but anyway ----let me get this straight---the police wrote you a ticket from a civilian place of business---or he was not on city or county property? -----non city property---apparently he was involved in eating and was already at this place more than five minutes?most police can't set in one place more than five minutes ,it is illegal in some states--they also can't write tickets if they was on civilian property -----other words ---they can't set in a driveway and write speeding tickets---or on a store parking lot----issuance of tickets should be issued from state or county property----all states are different-------check it out---i had experience   about twenty years ago-----this cop was hiding in a corn field and writing speeding tickets as he clocked them----thats not legal---he was on farm land---so the store  or jack in the box --just might fall in the same catagory----

  2. Its a cheap ticket.  You should go pay the clerk before the

    court date.

  3. Where I live, jaywalkers are all too common...and just a few days ago, one was killed after being hit by a car. That's right...he tried to cross a street in light-to-moderate traffic where there was no crosswalk, stop sign or signal.

No charges were filed against the driver of the car that hit him. All blame lies on the unfortunate person who decided to tempt fate and lost.

Take this as a learning experience. There are laws against jaywalking and I just gave you the number-one reason why there are those laws.

No matter if there are cars present or not...you need to:

    1. wait until the signal is in your favor (do not cross against a light)

    2. cross in a crosswalk (not the middle of the d**n road).

I don't want myself or someone like me ending up scraping you up off the highway. As for the previous poster, the cop was still on duty, eating or not. Just like in EMS...we could be sitting down to dinner...the call tones go off, we drop everything and we're out the door. Public safety doesn't stop for meal time.

  4. No just pay it on-line or follow the pay by mail directions either on the ticket or the on-line mailing instructions.......

  5. I don't think so.

But I J-walk all the time (15 too) so I guess I need to watch where I J-walk.

Sometimes crosswalks are out of the way though.
