I'm 17, and my only other ticket that i received a month ago was for careless operation when i was at fault for an accident, and its not yet paid for. Is it possible that the judge can send me to jail even if i pay for the ticket and lose my license. I'm in Louisiana....

  1. Sooo - you're actually lucky you weren't arrested on the spot - I'm not even being funny. You really need to look into getting a lawyer, because trust me even if they don't put you in jail, you probably won't be able to pay the increase in your insurance. Depending on what attorney you get, it's probably gonna cost you from 300-500 bucks... They hopefully will be able to reduce the ticket to at the very least a lower speed. I've gotten 2 tickets that I had reduced to non-moving violations, just because I couldn't bear the ridiculous insurance. Being 17, I don't know what they'll do, but contact a lawyer and be advised of what you can do. good luck, and sllooooow down!

  2. I hope they put you in jail and take away your car.

  3. I would have locked you up for reckless driving.  You would be looking at bars and your new boyfriend.

  4. "What am i looking at?"

    Insurance that you can't afford.

  5. You're lucky.  I'd would have cuffed you up and impounded your vehicle for reckless driving, reckless endangerment, and written you up for every infraction I found.  Your insurance will go through the roof.  With this the cop WILL show up to court, so you are looking at about...$2600 for the speeding part, surcharge on your already high insurance because it is very obvioous you are are immature and do not know how to drive, nor pay attention to the rules of the road.  If you go to court the judge may take your license away for 6 months.  So you are royally screwed...enjoy your new bicycle

  6. WALKING!!

  7. I don't know about Louisiana but in Arizona that is felony speeding and could lead to time served.

  8. If you had an at-fault accident just a month earlier, wasn't that a sign that maybe you should have slowed down and tried to be a little more careful when driving?  Or do you really think that driving 95 mph, when everyone else is only going 60 or 70, was something responsible to do?  Did you really think that there was no way you could have an accident or a ticket?

With any luck, I think you'll be looking at a jury of your peers.
