  1. what will you need? maybe more space than you think you have. and more knowledge. if you need to go on here and ask 'what you need for 12k watts' then you're not ready for everything else you'll need. power, alts, batteries, boxes, the build itself. 12k is nothin to play around with, and very expensive. my advice is start small, then work your way up

  2. i whould go with less wattage but quality.

i have 2 12inch subs running at 2000w in car speakers running at 1000w and 4 6x9's running at 1000w

that is d**n loud near enough compitition level, it outdoes almost all in my area.

put the extra $$$ on getting quallity rather than quantity.

an expensive 2000w can be the same as 3 cheap 2000w if  not better. *(so 2000w vs 6000w but at the same quality)

as its basic going for a sytem i whould recomend that you get a kit that way tou get wires connections bolts, screws fuses, to wire the whole thing from front to back.

a must have will be a capacitor (if your sytem is quality and you want to maintain  it )  i recoment wire it directly to the altinator as that way you never run your car batter down (happens so often showing off to your friends go to drive away after DOH a flat battery)

you will need the big 3 (upgraded earth's) to alt, battery, shassy. as the amount of watts trying to find there way through the ground points they will fry.

always go custom for box, i custom mine. if you have a standered large box they are bulky fidly and no good for a setup to work efficiantly and look good.

i made mine from MDF and fiberglass. (i only have 9inch boot space and with custom boxes have (capacitor, 2 x12inch subs, 2nd battery, 3 amps, all wiring in the 9inch space)

you alt will need upgrading or a second one.  i have a 1.6 petrol and use the alt off a 2.3lt  diesel same make.

  3. I would say dont do it. u would be better off with around 3000watts in the Trunk. trunk cars are very hard to get loud. and even tho u may think ur trunk is big, it relly isnt once u start gettin amplifiers and subs.  U will have the Box taking up most of the space and u also have the possiblity of major cancelation of sound waves.

Go with 2 12s or 2 15s, and maybe around 3000 watts a piece if u get some nice subs

  4. Well, pretty soon a deaf aid!! What on earth do you need that sort of power for in a car? You will never use it. Go for quality rather than quantity.

  5. 12,000 watts? why a wattage rather than a decibel (or spl) level?

    12,000 peak or RMS?

basically whichever you choose, you must buy amplifiers that add up to that wattage, however you choose. Could be 6 2000 watt amplifiers, 4 3000 watt amplifiers, 24 500 watt amplifiers...etc etc...

you can have each amplifier drive 1 speaker, or 2 speakers...etc...

you will need to upgrade your alternator, your battery, and upgrade your connections drawing that much power...

you will likely want a stiffening capacitor in line with the amplifiers to help keep the load constant......
