Question:

I just got an email from careerbuilder.com - is it legit?

It says it's that a company called Hill International has reviewed my information from careerbuilder.com and is offering me a job. It is a work at home job, and one of the requirements is the employee must have a good credit score. It goes on to say that if I am interested, I have to reply to the email. It also says that to speed up the hiring process I can go to their website, www.TheBizz1.cc, and apply for the job there. The only thing is, on their application it asks for my Social Security number (as most employment applications do). I don't want to go around giving that information unless this is a legitimate offer. Have any of you heard of this company or worked for them, and if so, is it any good?

  1. Requiring a credit score in which you are giving a total stranger your social security number is very suspicious and overall,  Hill International sounds like a total scam.  Nevertheless, do a search on Google.com for "Hill International scam" and see what comes up.

    Good luck!

  2. Wow, the alarm bells are ringing. This sounds like a real scam. Anyone that is talking about doing a credit check, asking for your social security number and asking you to charge things on your own credit cards sounds very fishy. Don't give these scammers any information and go find a legitimate job.

Run away...fast!  Here's a discussion of why this is probably a scam:

  3. No, it's a trick.

Are you sure it's from careerbuilder, double check the address.

You can do a lot with a social security number, so it's better safe than sorry.
