I just got back from Guatemala, and I have a question.?

Question

While there we ate at a great Italian food restaurant.

The owner was an Italian ex-pat and was a wonderful cook.

My question:

Have you ever found an unlikely/unexpected great find, such as a great restaurant, while traveling?

Yeah i went to guatemala afetr that big hurricane hit and we found great shops there and all the stuff ws hand made. It was surprising since little time ahd past since. but it was sad to see all the beggers on the streets.

How was thatr aspect when you went?

actually I was surprised in Tijuana Mexico they had

a Chinese restaurant that was WONDERFUL!!!

The Chinese family that owned it favored Mandarin

cuisine and it was the best. Very clean and nice

too. It was a locals spot and you had to walk through

some narrow alley ways to get there. Also they

had better deals in shops around there.

It seemed odd to find that but it was there.

The Caesar Salad was invented in Tijuana too

the chef ran out of salad stuff so he whipped

up the Caesar.

Outside the US, I found Berlin, Germany a really nice city. The people were very nice and a lot of history there.

Inside the US, I have to say New Orleans. Southern hospitality is awesome!

I could write a book.......one particular favorite was the dining room at Furnace Creek Inn in Death Valley,  CA.  Don't know what it's like now but was outstanding when we used to go there a lot.  Four Star and American Plan,  so the more you ate the less your room cost.  My husband's cheap relatives loved it!

Not really, I find the resturants around here to be as good as or better then some I've encountered on traveling. I've only traveled the east coast of the US. So not much of a choice here. LOL

I never have been in Guatemala but I have been in others countries  the experience has been very positive the meals of different flavors with something of spice

   meats  and poultries does not have  growing hormones and are healthful
