  1. I can kind of relate? :)

I have pierced my ears a total of 6 times. Cartilage and lobes, and I know what its like for something to be infected like that.

You said you are cleaning it daily, thats really good, if you aren't already, use hydrogen peroxide to clean the infection. The pus is a reaction to the infection, as well as the itchiness. If it persists for more than around 2 weeks, thats when you really should take out the piercing and let it heal.

Then wait until completely healed to possibly re-pierce.

    Good luck!

  2. You may have introduced bacteria into the wounds if your gloves were contaminated (all you have to do is touch one thing that isn't sterile) or if you didn't wear gloves. Or it could have happened after piercing. It doesn't really matter though.

If the wound is hot, has green discharge (white or yellowish white is lymph which is a normal sign of healing), is very red and swollen you may have an infection. Infection can only be confirmed through tests through your doctor. Since you feel that isn't an option, try doing a hot compress with sea salt solution twice daily. Heat can sometimes help destroy bacteria and infection. Unfortunately most topical antibiotic creams are not for puncture wounds, so I would avoid those . If you have symptoms of infection (see above) that don't go away in a few days you really should visit your doctor who can give you oral antibiotics if he confirms an infection.

Itchyness can simply be a sign of healing, that alone should not cause you concern. As I said above, if the discharge is white or yellowish white, it's perfectly normal.

  3. If it's infected: red, swollen, hot to touch, painful, with yellow/green pus: Do NOT remove it!!! You MUST go to the doctor ASAP for antibiotics or it will turn into mastitis which can kill you.

If it's not infected than it's irratated and keeping up on proper care will clear it up (1/8 TEAspoon SEA salt per 8oz water, 15 min. twice a day.) In the event you do something to get it "dirty" a mild anti-bacteria soap (like Provon) is fine, but don't use anything else other than soap and sea salt. More cleaning is not a better clean and actually does more harm than good.

As a DIY piercer, I urge you to actually learn about piercings and the body before attempting this again because you're not ready.

  4. There is a reason why there are professional piercers.

People that pierce themselves are just asking for complications.

  5. do a salt rinse

get epsom salt somewhere, dissolve it in warm water, then put that on a paper towel and rub i all over the piercing

also try to clean your bras as often as possible, body piercings that touch clothes (like belly button and nipples) get infected easily because they are constantly touching clothes, so making sure your clothes are clean will help a lot.

  6. keep it clean and even though it will hurt, pick the crusty's off and turn it in the shower

i have both mine done too

  7. I'd say just take it out and repierce it once its done healing or just leave it either way its going to come out fine.
