They sent me paperwork to fill out including an authorization paper to have them check my credit. My credit is not good. Can they retract their job offer due to my bad credit? I worked for them 3 years ago in a temporary position along with 100 other people but we got laid off due to budget cuts but this position is permanent. I would assume they checked my credit then, right? Thanks for your help.

  1. The check they did 3 years ago is too old.  Yes, they have the right to withdraw the offer, which was made contingent upon passing the credit, and no doubt background check also. Temps are brought in all the time, they are laid off, they are hired for short periods of time in overload periods.  (former US Fed/SES/DC)

  2. It is possible they could retract the offer. If they are asking to do a credit check odds are they will actually do it. Be up front and tell them how are you working to improve it.
