  1. a one piece crank is where the crank arms and bottom bracket are all fused togeter (crank arms are the bits that your pedals attach to, and the bottom bracket is the bit that the crank arms attach to) it can be stronger, but its pretty useless. you will need new cranks to swap sprockets and it will be a ***** to get off if you want a new crank!

you will need to spend over 200 for a decent one. i'd suggest anything by fitbikeco

they are all decent bikes, the cheapest is the AM series bmx, i have ridden it before and its a good bike to start on.

id suggest get the fitbikeco AM, and run it brakeless.

i have a fitbikeco team street, with no brakes, and i use it for dirt and its great!

mongoose aren't a great bmx company to be honest!

their bikes tend to be heavy, and the frames can be quite week.

    hope i helped

  2. first the crank connects the pedal to the bike, 1 piece basically sucks(there is no good), it means if you want to change the sprocket  you need a new crank.  you would want a three piece or even a two piece.  as for the bike you wont get anything good for jumps under two hundred(mongoose makes nice bikes but not bmx and to get a good one you would need to pay around 500) the redline rival will most likely brake if you ride it decently hard but the dk Cincinnati is great for a jumper($249.99) check it out. and it has the good 3 piece cranks.  i have a friend who rides on and he is about 5'9" and weight at least 150 and he BEATS on it and it still works about 4 years later. so i think that this is your best bet.  i have been riding for years and i have very knowledgable friends so i know what im talking about.
