  1. I got one this time last year, and it did cramp for a while at least 3 weeks. The cramps did become less and less and eventually. As long as they aren't getting more intense I wouldn't worry. Personally I did not like that type of birth control, I always felt it even when the cramps stopped.

  2. Contrary to some of the answers below. It is COMPLETELY normal. I had mine put in june 6th, the first week or two I found myself curled in fetal position almost freaking out...went back to my gyno 3x..everything was fine. You have to understand a few things about this.

First off, they dilate you to put the Mirena in, therefore, the cramping is going to last for a couple days being severe, while your insides go back down, Second...you have something inside you that your body doesn't recognize, with that said, it IS going to try expel it...so the cramping will be there. My cramping lasted for about 2 months, the severity of them went down after the first month, and seems to be doing so as time goes by. I still get cramping a few times a day, which the cramps are like light period cramps, annoying, yes..but tolerable. I even still spot sometimes for a few days, even tho it's NOT my time for mrs. mother nature. I looked up everything there is to know on-line...ya know, since there IS a "foreign" object in me..I'd rather know all than question all you know??

If you still have any worries, call your gyno with any questions...don't feel stupid if he says it's all normal...no question about your health is stupid..hope this helps. Good Luck.

ps: All the side effects/symptoms...can last for up to a year. After a year you should have very few issues what so ever.

  3. I had one put in last year and the cramping went on and on and on for an entire month till i had the d**n thing taken out.  It was awfully bad.  Hopefully yours will suside sooner.  I would tolerate it though if it persists.  I wish I had just left mine and put up with it instead of taking it out.  Good luck with that.  Take motrin.

  4. No, take it out again and get bc pills or a condoms.

  5. I had cramping for a while... I took Advil to lessen it...

Now I don't get periods (I got Mirena in April) I'm so happy I put up with it!

I had to deal with cramps and heavy spotting for 2 1/2 months, but now it's totally worth it.
