  1. your assuming it will take that long for them to trust you. I wouldn't worry to much, animals tend to warm to humans who feed them pretty quickly, just treat them nice and clean their cage as you would normally and they will eventually trust you.

  2. If you don't gain their trust by the time you want to clean they're cage its OK. Just grab both parakeets in your palm carefully(don't squeeze them) and put them in a box with holes until your done cleaning the cage and then just put them right back in they're cage. Though if you want to grain their trust in 2days than do this trick. Get a clicker thats good enough to hear. Make sure the room is quite. Now...go next to the cage and just stay they're for 2min. Open the cage door and slide your hand in slowly. Keep your hand not to far from the bird. If the parakeet starts to yell, bite, or fly to the other side. That OK. Just don't move your hand. Keep it where you left it. After 5min of keeping your hand in the cage 'press' the clicker and take your hand out. Know wait till the keets' are relaxed. Than put your hand back in the cage but this time closer (don't move your hand, no matter what). Keep it they're untill 5min and 'press' the clicker and take your hand out. Keep doing this until you get to the point where your hand it 'touching' the bird. Once the bird lets you touch him/her, you just got to level 1. Level 2 is to teach it to 'Step Up' on your finger. To do this you need to be able to let it feed you. Remember you don't want to "force" the bird. Your going to "ask" the bird to 'step up'. Once your able to feed them. You to the point where you need to put a couple of treats on your palm. Wait and watch for any movements. Don't force the bird to get the treat. To get the bird to eat the treat, he/she has to be hungry. Don't put a bunch of food in the tray. About 1tablespoon would be good. That way he/she will be hungry and climb up to your hand and eat the treat. Get where im going? Now you came to level 2. Level 3 is 'asking' the bird to come out of the cage on your finger. Which will be easy after 'step 2'. You will be able to gain the birds trust in about 2days if you follow my steps. Hope this helps.

    P.s. don't force!

  3. it takes anywhere from one week to 2 months for birds to settle down from a move, check out http://www.parrotcentral.net/how_to_tame... for a good article on how to handtame your babies, goodluck!

  4. You could try handfeeding them, or getting used to you and your hands.  In the beginning you might just want to sit next to their cage and talk to them.  Even sing or whistle... You could start slowly raising a hand next to their cage, so they know what your hand looks like and that it won't harm them.  After they feel comfortable with your hand outside of the cage, maybe put your hand in.  Talk to them whilst you do this, and don't make any sudden or jerky movements.  DO NOT put your hand close to them yet, as far away as you can.  You might have to leave it there for a bit, and it might be a little tiring.  After a while they'll get used to it and you might want to start trying to get them onto your finger.  Very slowly and gently push your bird on their lower abdomen.  Even if they are scared of you, they'll have to put their feet on your finger and stand there, otherwise they will fall.  DO NOT MOVE once they are on your finger.  They might still be a bit scared and get off of your finger.  Keep doing it.  Hold their favorite treats in your hand.  Day after day, they'll learn to trust you and your hand (:

    Good luck!

  5. the birds were prob not hand fed...so humans are kinda scary. i just got a new cockatiel yesterday and you want to talk soft or kindly. sometimes just let your finger sit in the cage to  let them know you are no harm, there are alot of websites if you search gaining parakeets trust. the information helps alot. goodluck.

  6. I'd say, hold them INSIDE there cage, everyday. When you clean their cage, do it as quickly as possible. Eventually, they will trust you and then you can start finger training them.
