  1. Start at a community college, take your general education requirements, and decide from there what you want to major in, get the associates, then go on for the bachelor's.  Good luck!

  2. Credits are things you accumulate in college: a certain number of them equal a degree.  One class in college usually equals three or four credits.

You'll start by thinking about what you want to do for a job.

Once you figure that out, it'd be good to find out what you need to get that job.  Do you need college, certifications, or what?  For example, if you wanted to be a doctor, you'll start thinking about college, but if you want to do computer repair, you might just start thinking about getting computer certifications.  You can find out what you need by either talking with people already in that career or even just doing a Google search.

If you can't figure out what you want to do just yet, many people do go to college not being sure-- they just know that a college degree brings them better job options, and start off with general classes while they figure it out.  That is an option, too.

If you decide on college, you might want to do a college search (like at http://www.petersons.com/ugchannel/code/... ) to figure out what colleges you can choose from.  You'll want to make sure they have a major for the career you want, and you can also search by location, price, and things like that.

Once you've chosen a college or two you like, you can contact the college and go from there.
