I just got my Texas Drivers Handbook and parent taught driver education packet. What should I do next?

There are a bunch of forms in the packet. Should i just study the book and then read the packet?

  1. depends. if i was you i would make sure none of the forms were time sensitive (need to be turned in to anyone soon). If not, just read and study the book. make sure you know the laws of the road. that's the hardest part on the drivers test. signs are fairly common sense. have fun when you get your licence.  


  2. The parent taught program is graduated so you must meet the different levels as needed.  The packet will have logs for each module that must be recorded as you progress through the program.  To get your drivers permit you must submit the request to the location where you will take the written test.  Then you will take the log that verifies you have completed the needed hours of written work to take the test.  You will get your permit and begin to drive with your parent instructor and log the time.  you must also complete the worksheets in each module. after that time is complete you turn it in to DPS and get a restricted liscence.  Continue the modules and then graduate to your unrestricted TxDL.
