  1. What do you mean you turned it on a 6 pm. They are not nocturnal. They sleep at night and awake during the day making them diurnal. They do sleep with their eyes closed, but this could also be a lot of stress it's going through. Turn of the UV and basking light. They come from the desert where it gets very cold at night. Even if it gets cool, they are used to it.

  2. Yes dragons sleep with their eyes closed.

They are considered desert animals and require uvb basking lightsand uv a-b strip lights. Lights should be 12 hours on 12 hours off. You can use a black/red light at night, never leave the white light on all the time.

    Mist in am and pm.

Feed veggies and crickets daily include water bowl changed daily.

We have a link on our website about dragons please go to http://www.petsareusrescue.org for more info

  3. All the bearded dragons I have seen close their eyes once in awhile when they seem happy and content basking. I think your beardy will be fine. Give him some time, it can be stressful for them going to a new home.

  4. Yes they do close their eyes to sleep.  You should leave the light off for 8-9 hours at night.  You can also use a red light at night for heat if it gets chilly or if you have an air conditioner on in the room at night.

  5. well first of 6"00pm dose not havelight so try  turning it on when the is light like 12:00 in the afternoon.

i think they do close there eyes

    good luck

    =)

  6. I'm sure ur beardie is fine, I have seen many beardies close their eyes and its not something to be worried about, If he's continuously active and looks like hes healthy, keep up what ur doing,

    Good Luck,

    Adam

  7. We keep "Julius" my stepdad's bearded dragon in the sun so i don't really know how long you should keep the UV light on. But they normally have their eyes closed when they're relaxing and sleeping. Don't stress too much, they are EXTREMELY low maintenance. Good luck!

"Bearded Dragons require full spectrum lighting for 12-14 hours a day. I happen to use the Reptisun 5.0 or 8.0 fluorescent bulbs. There is also other brands available such as the Reptiglo or lumichrome bulbs. These fluorescent bulbs should stretch the length of your Beardies enclosure and your B.D. should be able to come within 6-8 inches of the light. The UV light should be placed over the cage and not directed through the glass, glass will deflect the UV rays. Follow the directions on the package of the bulb for replacement frequency." 8. ok.. You keep the UVB LIGHT... the long rectangle light on for 12 hours a day.

you keep the basking light (UVA) light on all the time.. get a red bulb so you can just have one set up. they sleep with the red light, because they cant see the color red, so it doesn't bother them..

if you turn your long light on at 6, turn it off at 6 AM, but it should NEVER be on during the night. They wont be able to sleep

try   7 am to 7 pm

and beardies close their eyes when there relaxed, and when they sleep.

  9. Yes, all lizards close their eyes to sleep.  My general rule for my lizards are 12/12 - 12 hours of basking, 12 hours of UV  light.  You should stick to that as much as possible. Which light is it you're turning on at 6pm?

  10. I found a few helpful sites online that would probably help you a lot with answering all your questions about your BD. Here they are: www.888reptiles.co.uk (this offers a basic Care Sheet)...  www.peteducation.com (this is a site lead by veterinarians that offer excellent information)... and the other one is www.a1reptiles.net/BeardedDragonCareShee... (this one offers a lot of Care tips too and helpful information).  I hope you and your BD have a long and happy life ahead!

  11. they close there eyes to sleep, and turn it on around 7 and turn it off around 8,you can but 5$ timers for these at walmart or home depot that will turn the lights on and off

  12. They need heat bulbs and UVB bulbs.  Both should be on for 12 hours--use timers. UVB needs to be made for reptiles, and be placed within 12 inches of the basking site.  Change these bulbs every 6 months as they lose potency.  Heat basking bulbs must have the temp measured with either a temp gun or a digital probe thermometer.  You need 105F for babies and 100F for adults.  Too hot or too cold and you will have health problems.  More info here:

  13. bearded dragons should have their UVB and basking lights on for 14 hours on and 10 hours off, and yes bearded dragons sleep with their eyes closed.

  14. When my beardie goes to sleep he goes under the plastic plant (if you get a plant get it the pet store so you know it won't be harmful)  we have in the corner of the cage and digs out a spot in the sand where curls up  and goes to sleep with his eyes closed.  The first night we had him I got a kick out of watching him make his bed buy using his front feet to remove some the sand and then he just laid down and went sound asleep.  He slept so soundly, I thought he was dead.  But in the morning when the sun came up he got up on top of his basking spot and I turned on his basking light.   Every eve around 8 pm  I turn the light and heat down a little and he goes back to his sleeping spot, wakes up in the morning and we do it all over again.
