  1. Teeth are anchored into the bone of the jaw and are surrounded by a spongy bone.  This spongy bone is highly susceptible to changes in pressure.  In fact, it is this quality that makes orthodontists lots of money.  Applying constant pressure to a tooth will cause the spongy bone to breakdown and reform, thereby, moving the tooth.

With any luck, your last adjustment to your braces was long enough ago that the bone has reformed and taking off your braces wont be too big a deal.  The danger that you face is doing what you can to keep things from getting stuck in between your teeth OR frequently biting into hard foods as this will cause a shift.

  2. Yes, theres a possibility that they could shift.Teeth can shift very fastly without you even realizing it. That's what happened to me and I had to reget braces again.

  3. i don't think that your teeth will shift in 2 weeks. a month maybe, but not 2 weeks. but try not to wait any longer if you can help it.
