i won't be getting my retainers for two weeks. will my teeth shift big time? i am trying not to eat anything that will affect them (anything crunchy or chewy) because i've had them for three years and prayed for this day to come! any suggestions to keep the shifting to a very minimal level until i get my retainers?

  1. your teeth is still loose so theres a chance it will shift a bit. try not to eat anything hard. when you eat, try to chew from the side of your mouth.

  2. Yippee!  I feel your joy.  I had mine on for 3 years and it was a HUGE day when I got mine off but from memory I got my plate/retainer straight away. Your mouth and especially your teeth might seem a little sensitive now so just eat what you are comfortable with.   I would ring and ask your orthodontist if you have any questions or concerns he or the receptionist should be more than happy to help, after all the money your parents spent.  Also buy a really good, soft toothbrush and learn to brush your teeth properly without ruining your tooth enamel and buy brushing tablets from your chemist to make sure you are brushing correctly (look after them now).   Oh,  and practice your smile!  It's probably been a while since you really smiled with confidence.

  3. well the easiest way is to not worry about that, if they move it won't be very much. Unless you have your wisdom teeth coming in.
