  1. 100 meters is going to be reaching the limits of the practical range of your 10/22.  If you wanted to shoot some of the cheaper match ammo, it will help keep the groups tighter.

As the others have said, get a scope that leaves easy access to the turrets for adjustment, and keep info documented on how many clicks you need to turn to be accurate at each range. Another possibility would be a scope that has a drop compensator, but these are very specific to velocity and caliber of the firearm.

As far as scopes go for a .22, I would recommend Simmons.  They are a balance between quality and price.   I would think 3-9 power and an objective lens of about 40mm would be suitable.  I would avoid Bushnell.  I didn't have the trouble with wandering zeros as some of the others had, but every Bushnell I have used has a very stiff ring to control the magnification.  They are quite unpleasant to adjust compared to most other brands.

  2. A 4-12 by 45 mil dot would do the job nicely, any decent make will do.

  3. 100 will be stretching it. 50 will be fine, 70 a challenge. Try all different types of ammo. Find the one that your rifle will like best. Start out at 50 to determine which will be the most accurate out of your rifle.

As a note, the Ruger is a real P.O.S. and will likely wear out in only 70-100 years. (Just kidding). They are great.

  4. Maybe something like those Trijicon that have a reticle for different distances. I don't know.

  5. I would recommend a Simmons 3-9X or a 4-12X, these are very affordable scopes, I've had a couple and I never had a problem with them, I think they make a great entry level scope, I would prefer a Leupold over all others, but Burris, Nikon and Weaver also make good scopes but are considerably more money than a Simmons, also please don't buy a Bushnell, those are JUNK!, I had a Bushnell 3-9X on my Ruger 77  .223 and that scope would not stay zeroed at all, the Simmons on the other hand stayed exactly where I dialed it in.   I would recommend zeroing your scope in at 50M, and learning bullet drop, and the effect of wind on longer shots, you will learn MUCH from a .22 rimfire, congratulations on your new gun, and good luck on your scope.

  6. mine jams too much

  7. CONGRATS on the 10/22....hope you don't get bit by the same bug I did and spend triple what the gun is worth on pimping it out...lol.  22LR doesn't have any real recoil to speak of, so an expensive scope is not really necessary.  I have a Center-Point 4-16X40 on mine with Mil-Dot ranging reticle.  The reticle is also illuminated green or red if you choose.  I think I paid 50 bucks for mine and it's a tack driver centered at 75 yards.

  8. Congratulations on your new 10/22.

The 22 LR doesn't have a laser trajectory, Shooting zero at100 yards and then shooting a 40 yards it is going to be off (a bit high).

You could look for a scope with exposed turrets adjustments. Make a little chart with the clicks needed to go up to 100 and set "0" on the dial at 40.

I have a Sportsman's Guide 4-16X50, 30MM scope on my bull barrel 10/22 and that works for me.

  9. I'm thinking about trying a BSA Sweet 22 rifle scope.

I have been reading reviews of them, most seem to like them, the few who don't like them all have the same complaint, the calibrated drums that come with the rifle to match the ammo they use. an easy way around that is to try various ammo till you find one that does match the drum calibration.

  10. A simple solution is to use a flat shooting round.  If you zero your scope at 100 yards and use the CCI Stinger ammunition, your point of impact will be .7" high at 25 yards, 1.9" high at 50 yards and 1.7" high at 75 yards.  Knowing those ballistics allows you to adjust your point of aim that small amount to hit your target more precisely.
