1. if it is a baby guinea pig boil the carrots, but for a youngish guinea i would say raw is fine.

  2. Full, raw carrots are just fine for your cavy. The guinea pigs that I care for love their orange slices, and eat it right down to the rind.

  3. dont boil them they dont like that they like the crunch thats what they are used to i have had like 4 guinea pigs.

    and go to:

  4. the frist person said it all!!!!!GOOD LUCK

  5. If you already know about GuineaLynx, then you have just about everything you will need.

But to answer your question, guinea pigs should only have 1 baby carrot every couple of days. They are very high in sugar.

  6. They love carrots-especially raw.

Keep them whole and don't boil them or cook anything that you give your piggies. There isn't a guaranteed risk, but it is better to feed them things that they would/could find in the wild.

They can also have a variety of fruits and veggies but if you know about guinealynx then you know about that. ;)

Also, if you only have one guinea pig, I suggest that you get a second one. Guinea pigs require a companion-

"Guinea pigs are social, herd animals and are generally happier and healthier with another guinea pig. You see new behavior and a higher level of activity with two or more guinea pigs." If it's an unaltered male, then it would be better to get a spayed female from a shelter. Go to the shelter for another, because spaying is highly risky and its better if you get one that is already spayed. :)

  7. Raw is best. I would leave them whole and let them knaw at them to help keep their teeth healthy. Full size carrots are fine too, I give one a night to my two guinea pigs.

  8. raw

  9. raw is fine, full sized is fine! You can feed him anything that is packed with vitamin c as treats that he will love! Try slices of orange, apple, green pepper, dark greens. Stay away from Iceberg lettuce, but dark leafy greens like spinach are great for him and he will love to eat them! You can also give little bits of dry, mostly bland foods like plain cheerios, crackers etc. Pre-dried fruits are also good. Absolutely no chocolate or sugary treats!

  10. its really sweet your doing this. i have had my guinea pig for 5 years. i give her carrots all the time, i dont like to cut them up though. she also like strawberry, lettuce,apples- cut up in slices, bell peppers, and other things. I change my guinea pigs cage once a week. i give her fresh water and food everyday and i also have a pigloo for her. I give her a bath every 2-4 weeks using special guinea pig shampoo and then i brush her. have fun with your new piggy

  11. okay first guinea pigs have alot of teeth just like us. but they have teeth to begin with the incissors will cut though carrots with ease. raw and fresh is the way my guinea pigs like them. and i have one that is 6. and one that is only a month. also they enjoy parsley if fresh. guinea pigs need lots of vitamin c dont get food with less then 16%. parsley and alfalfa has alot of vitamin c also you might want to put some vitamin c powder in their water occasionally. this helps them to grow big and strong. also you mightwant to check out he book a guide to raising and showing guinea pigs by wanda curran( or curren) this was the book that helped me the most when i first started out. so good luck and if you have anymore questions feel free to email me at jeg316sac4hcc@yahoo.com
