The board itself isn't supposed to be soft but i think you're talking about the ride being soft and smooth.  But if you're saying the board is soft then you just got scammed.

Nope, its meant to be hard and heavy so you can stay in control.

as in you make imprints with your feet into the board? Then no. Your board is primarily wood and the cheap b******s that made your board probably put only a thin coat of fiberglass one the board. Next time buy a zap large wedge board or a victoria large egg board. I have both of these and they are amazing.
