Question:

I just got my septum pierced and whats the best way to clean it?and would jogging effect the healing process?

The piercing is flipped up into my nose so I dont get in trouble with my parents.

  1. I would use warm salt water to help prevent infection. Alcohol is very drying, but when it is safe to remove the piercing, I would clean the piercing with alcohol daily to prevent infection. I think this is usually a couple weeks depending on the gauge of the ring or barbell.

    Also, jogging is bad for you. It puts far too much stress on your joints, ligaments, and cartilage. I would try fast-paced walking instead. Or even better, strength training so that you don't get the fight-or-flight stress reaction. When you do cardiovascular exercise, it produces cortisol and that leads to weight gain on your abdomen and heart problems. Do some research on Paul Chek and his books. He's a bit 'my way or the highway', but he's done his homework.

  2. You really need to ask the person who did the piercing; they should have supplied you with detailed instructions.
