I just got new skates today - Riedell Gold 375.

They were put in the oven heated to form on my feet.

I've been wearing them around the house just for 20 minutes or less at a time. I skate 4x a week about 2 hours each day. How long do you think it should take to break into my skates?

[I can do all the single jumps, except axel]

  1. Probably about a week, that's how long it took me!  When you skate in them at first, you might not want to tie them up all the way yet.

  2. I do not think it will take you long at all. Maybe about two weeks, or about ten one hour sessions.

  3. It usually takes about a week, but it depends on how often you skate.

When you skate, don't try doing hard jumps or spins because new skates can often make you feet bleed.

  4. It depends on the foot, and the person, also if you've used that company before. Some people take up to a month to break skates in-- others 1 day. One thing I noticed was I got a lot of blisters (which hurt) but if you get a pair of gel socks they help A LOT and generally last you a while.

    I'm guessing a few days to a 2 weeks for you? :)

  5. about 2 weeks, but bunga pads really help!

  6. Those are some nice skates.(:

Walking around the house in the boots are a good idea, helped me a lot. I have the Riedell Bronze 320, and it took me about 6 days to break into them.

It's different for everyone, but usually the break in time is around a week to 10 days.

  7. it depends how much you skate on them

usually it takes about a week if you are professional

  8. I had a similar situation and i went to a public skate for 2 hours and i could do all of my jumps and most of my spins. I think it will probably  take about 8 hours or so to be comfortable again- you might have to change the way you do some stuff to acclimate to your new skates! Enjoy and keep skating! I hope this helps!

  9. I would say about a week. i have ridells and it took about that long to break them in. but i dont think you should be skating in them if you havnt broken them in... :)
