  1. north facing means in a window that is not in direct sunlight,

  2. When the water level goes down, fill it back up to where it's supposed to be.

You can use a straw to blow bubbles into the water and that will help oxygenate a little.

Yes, you can put the food in a plastic sandwich baggie.

And when they say to put it in a north facing window... put the container on the window sill of a window in your house that faces north. That way the sun won't be shining full blast on the container during the day. It will get indirect sunlight and that will help algae grow. Sea monkeys eat algae.

Does that answer all your questions?

  3. You will notice the water level dropping as it simply rises into the atmosphere. You will need to take a container of water and top it up. If you use a straw to blow into the water you will be blowing in carbon dioxide as that is what you exhale. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west so a north facing window will have a relatively equal amount of light all day long.

    Good luck.

  4. You CANNOT blow into the tank with a straw. That will raise the level of Carbon Dioxide in the water and will actually displace the same amount of oxygen. Use an air stone connected to a small pump. Replacing the evaporated water keeps the salt content at the same concentration. When salt water evaporates, the salt concentration becomes higher, therefore by adding fresh water to the tank you will keep the salt concentration stable. Keeping your tank/bowl in a north facing window will lessen the amount of evaporation, thereby keeping the salt concentration in the tank more consistant. Hope this helps - good luck!
