I just got selected to take the Air Traffic Selection and Training Test?

I was wondering what the test is like and if there are any suggested practice materials? any other advice?

  1. First thing to do is purchase the prep guide at the link provided.  While you're waiting for it, call up the local tower or center and ask about a tour of the facility.  Tours are less frequent since 9/11 but staffing permitting, they're still given.  The FAA is most concerned about staffing the "centers" so if there's one in your area, check them out first.

  2. I took that test twice back in the 80s after Ronnie Reagan fired all those PATCO strikers. What a pain in the butt. NO I didn't make it either time. No idea how you'd train for it. AND you have to select areas of the country you want to work, and just WHO knows if they need people in those areas? I just selected "Great Lakes Region" and hope they needed me close to home. I didn't want to move.
