I just got the VX 7r ham radio and it got some preprogram shortwave broadcast to receive on...I've heard...

some of them. On the radio, the tags say which country it's from. For ex., one was BBC. Does this necessarily mean I was listening to a broadcast from Britain or just a local station was broadcasting on that frequency?

  1. It's the broadcaster BBC. Since most international broadcasters broadcast from many different transmitter sites throughout the world, It's the broadcaster's name only.

    Also, international broadcasters change station frequencies over the course of a day so you may not hear it all day , everyday in that same spot... it may be just for a few hours
