Question:

I just got two 512mb memory cards for my mac G4, to replace two 64mb ones, but its not working, whats wrong?

so i had 512mb a 256mb and two 64s, i replace the 64s and 256 with two 512s but it shows the slots are empty, i installed them right, but im not sure whats wrong.

  1. Your using a mac, thats whats wrong....

    -basically if you were using 64mb cards in your mac and you upgraded you have to make sure of a few things

    One being that you bought the correct ram. is it sdram?? if it is your board won't support the DDR or DDR2 ram,

    Next make sure that they are compatible with the Mac's "logic board" or Mobo. If that doesn't work make sure you didn't kill em' with static.. and if all else fails make sure your computer can use the 1gb, and that the bus speeds are compatible as well.


  2. It's really hard to upgrade a mac.. but correct me if I'm wrong but don't you need special memory for apple computers?  Just a suggestion you could look into.

  3. make sure that your computer supports 1GB of memory and make sure that the cards are the right speed. Theres cards like 667 DDR2 and 800 DDR2 and if you buy 800 instead of 667 or something, it wont work.

  4. Are the cards compatible with the motherboard?
