  1. Yes you will miss high school and your teacher/mentor. But remember, you are moving on, growing up and taking all that you learned from that teacher into your future. It's because of that teacher that you HAVE a future to look forward to.

Don't ever forget your teachers and especially the ones that helped you learn about yourself and what you could do. It doesn't matter what grade it was. You will always be grateful.

One of the nicest things you could do is write your teacher a letter - by hand, not computer - and tell her/him how much they taught you and what a great influence they were on you. Be specific if you can, about times that you really appreciated their teaching.

Your teacher will be thrilled to receive this. I still have notes from my first year students, sent on graduation day. They mean a lot and they also mean that what I did was not in vain. (Believe me, there are times when teachers just want to chuck it all and go do something else. It's kids like you that keep us going.)  That I did make a difference - because that is why I teach.

    Good luck to you!

  2. Send her a Hallmark.

  3. Yea you can miss a teacher that much...I'm sure I'll remember my teachers...I loved my third grade teacher...but now im older and i kinda forgot how much I liked my teacher...of course I'll  come back and visit but Its different...

  4. i was just having this conversation with another teacher yesterday. i never really bonded with any of my teachers that way. but now that i teach i have bonded with many of my students. i keep in contact with several of my ex-students and many of them have said i'm the reason they want to pursue photography in college and as a career.

i do miss them because it is those students who make my job worthwhile.

  5. even though you've graduated, there is nothing wrong with keeping in touch with your teacher! stop by for visits, write emails, you can even offer to help out in the classroom. teachers love it when graduating students keep in touch and visit every now and then!

  6. Did you ever tell this teacher any of this?  Send her a letter or card or go back and tell her!  She'd love to know this--I'm sure of it!

High school teachers have to put up with a lot of c**p from insubordinate kids to c**p supervisors to strange parents.  But, teachers love to find good kids like you.  If they feel they've made a difference in a kid's life, they'd love to know it.  I'm sure she'd love to know she made such a nice impact on you.
