  1. When did you start taking birth control? If at your 6 week appt you got it, then its normal to have break through bleeding the first month or so on the pill.  If your worried then call your doctor.

*Its break through bleeding then.  If it still goes on next month, then call your doctor to get a different brand of birthcontrol.  The doctor should of explained all of this.  But then again most of them just want to get you out of the room so they can see the next person.  I hoped I helped*

  2. Medical guidelines say that women will bleed between two and six weeks after the birth of their baby. It seems, from speaking to many women, that the amount of REST that they get after the birth of a baby will determine how long they bleed for. Personal experience changes from individual to individual. Some women experience very heavy bleeding for over two weeks while others have no discharge at all after two weeks. I even know one friend who bled over the course of months.

If you are breastfeeding you need to take extra care of yourself. Any new mother needs good nutrition, vitamin and mineral supplements (preferably recommended/prescribed by a naturopath), lots of water and REST (this doesn't necessarily mean sleep - but taking it easy). I would think that you may be over doing it a little - so slow down... its your body asking you to take a break.

It is best to avoid s*x while you are still bleeding to limit exposure to infections and if you are concerned that you are not getting back to, few couples are sexually active like they were before birth, this early after birth.

If you continue to be concerned contact your health professional.
