I just had a tonsillectomy and now my teeth are sensitive?

I had my surgery 8 days ago. My teeth became really sensitive after the surgery. At first it wasn't that bad it, but it feels like it's getting worse. It's not just one tooth but it seems to be teeth with fillings. It's sensitive to the liquid pain medicine with codeine, chocolate and toothpaste. How long does this last and should I call my doctor to ask if this is a side effect?
