I just had an interview at Forever 21 and was hired on the spot. Should I still send a thank you letter?

I want to leave a good impression on the rest of the employees and I really can't thank the manager enough for hiring me. I'm going in tonight after close for some sort of orientation. I was thinking I could hand it to her in person there. What do you think?

  1. Hummm, I have never given an employer a "Thank You" letter at start.     Personally, I think thats a little much.   You could verbally thank her.   She is really going to see how much you appreciate it once you start and she sees if you are a fast learner, a dependable associate and a good worker.

I work in Human Resources and I have never heard of that?  hummmmm

  2. Yes, a thank you is appropriate and shows character.  Handing it in person is fine.  Congrats on the job.

  3. yes!

Even though it is saying the same thing, writing a thank you and saying one is a big difference.

It will show how much you appreciate her giving you the job. Also, if you ever use her as a reference for your next job, she will have good things to say.

  4. I don't think anyone ever thinks badly of receiving a thank you letter, either personally or professionally.  It can't hurt.  Why not?  If anything, you'll stand out because I'm sure none of your new coworkers did it.
