The sockets don't hurt at all, its just my lower jaw is very stiff and it makes the entirety of my lower mouth sore. I can speak and i'm very functional, i'm just wondering if there's anything i can do to help loosen it up.

Thanks!

  1. I'd say Ibuprofen and time.

  2. Use hot, moist compresses (damp towel in microwave) held in place at the upper jaw area just below the temple, on both sides at the same time.  The as the damp heat starts to soothe the area, gently start to stretch your jaw open and closed.  This exercise will help you to regain the full function of your mouth much faster and with less pain.  Your muscles are tight from being stretched open for so long during the surgery, and they need help to relax.  The hot, moist compresses will help to stimulate blood circulation in the muscles and tissues which will aid in the healing process as well.  I usually recommend this exercise 24 hours post-op of the 3rd molars extractions.  Hope this helps you feel better soon.
